The app is free, the account is optional, and a tip is a tip — it buys no extra features.

1. Who provides the service
GlobeQuest is run by Bartosz Jatczyszyn, a private individual and the author of the app. Contact: globequest.world@gmail.com. The app lives at globequest.pages.dev.
2. What GlobeQuest is
An app for marking the countries you have visited, planning trips, keeping a journal and playing geography quizzes. It runs in a browser and needs no installation. Using it is free and will stay free within the scope described here — if paid features ever appear, they will be an addition, not a fence around what you already have.
3. What you need
A current browser with JavaScript and WebAssembly enabled, and an internet connection the first time you open it. After that the app also works offline, though without maps and network data. Some features (showing your position, Time Capsules, voice notes) need your permission for location or the microphone — you may withhold it, and those features simply will not work.
4. Accounts
- An account is optional. Without one the app works in full; the data just stays on one device.
- An account may be created by someone aged 16 or over.
- You provide a working email address and a password, and you are responsible for keeping the password to yourself.
- You may delete the account at any time under Account → Formalities → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
- I may block or delete an account used in breach of section 5 or of the law. I will say why, to the email address on the account.
5. What is and is not allowed
Notes, trip names, your nickname and Time Capsule messages are written by you. Do not put in them:
- unlawful content, including threats, harassment, hate speech and material infringing someone else's copyright;
- other people's personal data without a basis for it;
- content meant to mislead others about who wrote it.
Do not try to circumvent security measures, overload servers or harvest data in bulk — the app runs on shared, free servers belonging to open projects, and excessive traffic hurts everyone using them.
6. Reporting content
If you come across something in a Time Capsule, a nickname or a shared trip that does not belong there, write to globequest.world@gmail.com. A description and roughly when you saw it is enough. I respond to every report and tell you what I did with it. Unlawful content is removed without delay, and serious violations mean the author's account is blocked.
7. Time Capsules
A capsule is a message tied to a place — only someone who physically gets there can open it. Capsules are visible to your friends or to one named person; there are no public capsules. The contents reach the recipient's device only once they arrive, but after they open it they can save it — deleting a capsule later does not unread what someone has already read. Do not leave things in capsules that you would not want anyone to see.
8. The data and content you create
Everything you type and add belongs to you. I claim no rights to it and use it for nothing beyond running the app: showing you your own data and, if you choose, showing it to your friends. You can download a copy at any time under Account → Formalities → Download my data. Details are in the Privacy policy.
9. Where the map data comes from, and how much to trust it
Maps come from OpenStreetMap and CARTO, country shapes from Natural Earth, and facts from Wikidata and Wikipedia. These are open, community-built sources — they can be out of date or simply wrong. Treat holidays, exchange rates, opening hours, borders and visa information as trivia, not as something to base decisions on.
GlobeQuest is not a navigation system and is not suitable for finding your way where safety is at stake. Routes are indicative. In the mountains, on the water and in any emergency, use tools built for the job.
10. Availability
This is a one-person project running on free hosting plans and on shared servers belonging to open projects. I do my best to keep it up, but I do not promise continuous availability or that every feature works in every browser. Your data, however, is always on your own device — a server outage does not cut you off from your own map.
11. Tips
The app has an "escape fund" — a voluntary tip for the author through buycoffee.to. It is not payment for a service and not a subscription: it unlocks nothing and speeds nothing up. The payment is handled entirely by buycoffee.to on their own terms; I neither receive nor store any of your card details. A tip is a gift and is not refundable.
12. Complaints
Something broken, or working in a way it should not? Write to globequest.world@gmail.com. I reply within 14 days. Consumers may also use out-of-court dispute resolution; in Poland, information about it is maintained by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and by municipal and district consumer ombudsmen.
13. Changes to these terms
I may change these terms when the app or the law changes. Significant changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days in advance. If you do not accept a new version, you can delete your account — you lose nothing, since the data stays on your device anyway.
14. Governing law
Matters not covered here are governed by Polish law. These terms do not limit the rights granted to you as a consumer by mandatory provisions of law.
